Brand Impact

Get out and roam.
We think about the impact of our products, so you don’t have to.

Remember when you were young and reminded to turn off the lights or adjust the thermostat? In a world where resources are often taken for granted, these lessons from our past continue to shape our present and inspire a more sustainable future.

With a global effort to shift toward a circular economy, reduce carbon emissions and divert apparel waste from landfills, we have taken practical steps to ensure we are doing our part. We're not talking miracles here, just a combination of common sense, transparency and making responsible choices when available.

OUR PERSPECTIVE

For us, it all starts with design.

However, we are human beings first, designers second. Designers are unique in that what we do directly impacts those who interact with our work. As our work will likely outlive us, we have a duty to leave the world in better shape than we found it.

The products we make are meant to be timeless and worn over the years, not just one season. We strive to make our products robustly so they can withstand the rigors of an active lifestyle, lasting longer, and ultimately reducing waste.

The following pillars keep us grounded when it comes to turning our ideas into reality.

MATERIAL CHOICES

Our products are made using high grade sustainable fibers of cotton, wool, and polyester. We often choose a blend of these materials to optimize durability, feel and performance. We source materials that are of the highest quality and adhere to several globally recognized standards.

Our cotton is grown by certified organic growers and processed in accordance with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). This means that the entire manufacturing process is certified to meet standards that minimize environmental impact and human toxicity exposure, uphold technical quality standards, and ensure conformity to the social compliance norms of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Our wool products are Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified. This means virgin wool comes from farms with a progressive approach to managing their land and from sheep that have been treated humanely.

We also use recycled wool from Prato, Italy. Due to its durability and quality, wool recycling has been practiced commercially for more than 200 years. Recycled wool processing has been a model example of a closed loop system. Choosing recycled fibers lowers the environmental impact by reducing water and energy consumption, along with the reduction of carbon emissions.

We utilize recycled polyester which is Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified. This cuts the need for harvesting raw materials, ultimately keeping trash out of landfills, and utilizing less resources to fabricate our garments.

MANUFACTURING STANDARDS

We work with the world’s premier apparel manufacturers to embed quality and reliability in our products. However, we ensure that our entire supply chain, from raw material harvesting to cut & sew, promotes and sustains fair labor practices, safe working conditions and environmental responsibility.

We utilize Bluesign® certified fabric mills. This means our products are produced with the highest safety standards and environmental requirements prohibiting the use of dangerous chemicals or substances found on our Restricted Substance List. This preserves our waterways and keeps toxins out of your closet.

Our manufacturers are also contractually committed to our Code of Conduct that defines labor standards that set the bar for decent and humane working conditions, while establishing transparency and accountability across all touchpoints. This includes establishing limits for compensation and hours of work, prohibiting forced or child labor and discrimination, while upholding environmental, health and safety standards. We ensure compliance with our factory partners through 3rd party certification under WRAP, SA8000 or equivalent standards.

PACKAGING & TRANSPORTATION

We recognize the inseparable connection between packaging and transportation. We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint by implementing sustainable practices in both aspects of our business. We prioritize the use of recyclable polybags made from 100% recycled content including 50% post-consumer waste. These bags are also designed to be reused for product returns and exchanges when required. Similarly, our boxes are made with 100% recycled content and 95% post-consumer waste and are designed to be reused. By doing this, we significantly contribute to diverting waste from landfills.

These packages are also designed to be lightweight and compact, optimizing our shipping processes. This not only minimizes carbon emission, but also saves valuable shipping space, ultimately resulting in reduced fuel consumption. Our default customer shipping option is ground which is more economical than air freight.

LOW IMPACT OPERATIONS

At our core, we are dedicated to low-impact operations, actively pursuing ways to reduce waste while getting the job done. We encourage our team to work from home whenever possible, which not only saves on gas and reduces pollution but also promotes a healthier work-life balance.

Additionally, we place great emphasis on the accuracy of our sizing charts, striving to minimize returns and, in turn, conserving resources. To assist our customers in finding their perfect fit with ease, we’ve introduced a fit finder app, a user-friendly tool designed to guide individuals to their ideal size.

We use a 3rd party to handle all our order fulfillment and returns processing. This leverages existing economies of scale and eliminates the need to set up redundant operations, thus saving resources.
